Unwind by the sea, to the rhythm of the waves, Beirut on the horizon, and stretches of blue. Zita House in Fidar, a bed & breakfast set on the shores of the Mediterranean, marries art and relaxation. The newly opened Zita Sunset Bar invites us to embrace the serenity for a moment, or longer.
The Zita House was designed with a nature and art-loving mindset. Walking down the concrete steps you will find art pieces full of peps in every corner of the Bed & Breakfast; in the lounge area, a mural painted by Jean-Marc Nahas, inspired by the realm of Sufism, a playful black and white depiction of the workers who built the space, with colorful touches here and there added by the daughter of Karim, the owner of the house. In the corridor leading to the rooms, an aboriginal painting reflecting the agitation of stars on a stormy night, and in the dining hall furniture designed by local superstars Nada Debs, Karina Sukar or Georges Amatoury. The ultimate work of art lies outdoors, nature itself, surrounding the house, waves gently crashing on the rocks. Wake up to nothing but the sea, and Beirut on the horizon, for a lazy morning lounging by the infinity pool, or enjoying a copious breakfast with saj manoushe, pancakes, or broiled eggs, before setting out to visit Byblos a city that has been inhabited for thousands of years. In this art lovers den, music takes center stage, with a piano reigning in the living room, facing high tech speakers to listen to some jazz, lounge or bossa nova, while gazing at the blue outside.
And for those of us who want to experience a piece of the magic, the newly launched Zita Sunset Bar is our cue to take in the serenity of the space. Set outdoors, on the grass and concrete terrace surrounding the infinity pool, overlooking the mediterranean, the Zita Sunset Bar was envisioned as an invitation to bask in the beauty of nature. With a menu of drinks and bites designed by the chefs and bartenders behind TAVERN, a consultancy food and bar service, in partnership with Zita House, and to the tune of light background music, the area will now be open to guests from outside the Bed & Art for sunset to evening. With curated details, such as ceramic plates designed by Lebanese artists, candlelight and cozy cushions, we drift into a relaxed night out under the stars. From the orange, pink and purple shades of sunset, to the moon touching the sea with a light glimmer, a sense of peace washes over us. With the Bed & Art on location, we might look into the rooms availability and decide to spend the night here, to dip our toes in the sea at sunrise.
